Notes for Using the New Ferry Terminal to Cat Ba Island
The Dong Bai ferry terminal is located about 3 km away from the old Got terminal, and the crossing time through the Cat Hai sea strait is extended by 10 minutes compared to before.
Starting from March 1, the Dong Bai ferry terminal replaces the Got terminal for transporting passengers from the mainland to Cat Ba Island. Here are some important notes when using this new terminal:
1. The width of the pier can accommodate two large ferries and one small ferry simultaneously.
2. There are three lanes for cars to descend onto the ferry, while there is only one lane in the opposite direction.
3. The waiting area is over 830 m2 in size, with a roof covering approximately 1,400 m2.
Information on Ticket Prices and Ferry Running Time
From the center of Hai Phong city, travelers pass through the Tan Vu Bridge and reach a junction opposite the Vinfast automobile manufacturing plant, where signs direct them to the Dong Bai ferry terminal (along the road to the cable car station).
The distance from the Tan Vu - Lach Huyen road for cars to the ticket sales station for the ferry is about 2 km.
The ferry crossing time from Dong Bai terminal to Cai Vieng terminal on Cat Ba Island is about 1.86 km longer than the old route, and the crossing time through the Cat Hai sea strait is extended by about 10 minutes.
The new ferry terminal covers an area of 8 hectares, with a large waiting area equipped with all necessary amenities and spacious access roads. The area for docking to receive passengers and vehicles is 61.4 m long, 35 m wide, with a slope of nearly 11%, capable of receiving two large ferries and one small ferry simultaneously.
The ferry runs from Dong Bai terminal from 5:30 am to 6:30 pm, and from Cai Vieng terminal also from 5:30 am to 6 pm. The interval between each ferry trip ranges from 30 minutes to one hour, depending on the time of day.

- Bicycle rider: 9,800 VND
- Motorbike rider: 37,000 VND
- Car under 9 seats: 159,000 VND
- Car from 9 to 24 seats: 175,000 VND
- Car from 24 to under 32 seats: 200,000 VND
Those with residency in Cat Hai district are eligible for discounted tickets.
Travelers who do not bring personal vehicles on the ferry can rent a car to the island's center for prices ranging from 350,000 VND to 1.6 million VND, depending on the type of vehicle.
